Welcome to Jambox!
As Charlotte's newest music rehearsal and practice space, we strive to make sure each of our members can get the most out of their time in our 12 practice rooms. Whether you’re a part of a six-piece band looking for enough elbow room and outlet space, or a solo performer just looking for a little peace and quiet, our rehearsal rooms are fully stocked with everything the budding performer might need.
To get the most out of your booking, we’ve put together a crash-course quick-start guide so you, our new and returning members, can get to practicing ASAP!
In each of our currently available spaces, we’ve provided a variety of equipment, including drum kits, bass and guitar amps and additional power strips and cables. Our drum kits are complete with a kick drum, a snare, a tom and two cymbals: a hi-hat and a crash. If you prefer to use your own cymbals, snares, amps, etc., we encourage you to bring them with you. We do ask, however, that you reset the kit and switch off the amps at the end of your booking to make it easier for the next person to use them.
Also in our practice rooms, you’ll find a set of upright speakers, two microphones and a mixing board, each pre-built for your convenience. For those unfamiliar with sound mixing and engineering, or unfamiliar with the bells and whistles of a PA system, the idea of mixing your own vocals might be a little unsettling at first. But we’ve got you covered!
In the Grateful Dead Room, we’ve provided a set of Alto upright speakers, a four-channel Pyle mixing board (both pictured to the right) and two microphones. To get started, all you have to do is flip the switches on the back of the mixer and both speakers, and you’re ready to sing to your heart’s content (or until your booking ends, in which case, feel free to extend your stay on our website to continue the fun).
In the Beatles Room, you’ll find a slightly different setup; two Rockville upright speakers and two microphones, hooked into a Rockville eight-channel mixer (pictured below). It’s even easier to get started here, as all you’ll have to do is flip the switch on the back of the mixer to begin. We highly recommend booking this room if you are bringing in a larger group with multiple vocalists, or synths and keyboards that require a connection to a PA. To do so, take a quarter-inch guitar or instrument cable and plug your instrument into any of the available input ports on the mixer.
Please keep in mind, however, that not every item mentioned above is currently set up in our smaller spaces: the Duke Ellington and Bob Dylan Rooms. If you or your group requires PA equipment, amps or other amenities during your time at Jambox, make sure to request them in your booking, or you can send us a message to have them moved to/from the rooms if needed.
